Physician 18 - BPHASA Medical Consultant

The Medical Consultant serves as an integral member of the Office of Medical Affairs (OMA) team in providing pediatric clinical expertise and consultation for the Children’s Special Health Care Services Program (CSHCS) and Michigan Medicaid in the MDHHS Behavioral and Physical Health and Aging Services Administration. Utilizing clinical expertise in pediatrics and knowledge of program policies, the Medical Consultant conducts prior authorization reviews for individual beneficiaries and provides subject matter expertise for a range of CSHCS functions and initiatives. This position also provides expertise to inform policy development, refinement, and interpretation. and maintains an active line of communication with the Michigan provider community. The Medical Consultant advises the OMA Chief Medical Consultant, leads coordination of pediatric considerations within OMA, and serves as a consultant to other department staff, vendors, providers, and beneficiaries.

Requirements

Education
Possession of a medical degree from an accredited school of medicine.
 
Experience
Three years of post, medical degree, full-licensure experience in the practice of medicine or osteopathic medicine and surgery.

This position will work remotely. Occasional travel to the office located at Capitol Commons Center, 400 S. Pine St., Lansing, Michigan 48933 may be required.  

Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.  

Employees will be provided computers to perform state work.  Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense, including:
  • A secure work location that allows privacy and prevents distractions.
  • A high-speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
  • Suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
