Administrative Specialist I (Flexible/Hybrid)

DEQ has an open opportunity for an Administrative Specialist I.
 
This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. The NC Department of Environmental Quality trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.
 
This Administrative Specialist I position is in the Division of Air Quality Business Office.  Responsibilities include a broad range of departmental accounting functions in the following areas: accounts payable, accounts receivable, processing employee travel authorization and employee travel reimbursements, and reconciling Procurement Card transactions.
 
Key Responsibilities:  
  • Auditing and Processing both matching and direct pay invoices daily to include assigning expenditure accounts and funding sources. 
  • Process employee travel authorization and employee travel reimbursements 
  • Assist with generating and mailing monthly annual fees invoices and preparing the daily deposit for the Division along with monthly reconciliation.
  • Assist with reviewing, prepping, and maintaining grants/contracts/MOUs/permits through spreadsheets and databases.

The Division of Air Quality (DAQ) works with the state's citizens to protect and improve outdoor, or ambient, air quality in North Carolina for the health, benefit and economic well-being of all. To carry out this mission, the DAQ operates a statewide air quality monitoring network to measure the level of pollutants in the outdoor air, develops and implements plans to meet future air quality initiatives, assures compliance with air quality rules, and educates, informs and assists the public with regard to air quality issues. Recruitment Range:  $31,200 - $44,000

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following: 
 
  • Documented work experience using accounting software (NCAS, NCFS, Oracle, Workday, etc.).
  • Documented work experience processing accounts payable and/or accounts receivable.
  • Documented work experience preparing and/or reconciling daily deposits.
