This position will be with the NW LA Human Services District - Shreveport Behavioral Health Clinic located at 1310 N Hearne Ave. 

The incumbent provides recovery, relapse prevention, and resilience-centered and consumer/family-focused Specialty Clinic Social Work Services to individuals with addictive disorders, serious and persistent mental illness, and/or co-occurring disorders. These services include a broad range of evidenced-based treatment and require independent clinical judgment and the use of varied in-depth evidenced-based treatment modalities. 

No Civil Service test score is required to be considered for this vacancy.

As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Social Worker 2, 3, or 4, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).  Please refer to the ‘Job Specifications’ tab located at the top of the LA Careers ‘Current Job Opportunities’ page of the Civil Service website for specific information on salary ranges**, minimum qualifications, and job concepts for each level. 

The minimum and maximum pay levels for the position are listed below:
  • Social Worker 2 - $19.67/hour minimum - $35.40/hour maximum  
  • Social Worker 3 - $21.05/hour minimum - $37.88/hour maximum  
  • Social Worker 4 - $22.52/hour minimum - $40.53/hour maximum 
**There is also a $2.00 per hour for actual hours worked premium pay for a LCSW.**

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW) or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) plus:

A master's degree in social work followed by one year of social services experience.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from the Social Worker 1 by the presence of independent performance of duties under general supervision.

Differs from the Social Worker 3 by the absence of responsibility for specialized caseloads, lead-worker duties, or coordinating a specialized program for a facility/area/region.

Examples of Work

Plans, prioritizes, and manages psychosocial assessments and clinical treatment services by evaluating patient's functioning, conducting intensive interviews, gathering historical, legal, and/or technical data in order to determine and implement the most effective type of psychosocial intervention needed.

Conducts intake interviews, makes preliminary determination of client's eligibility for services, and makes appropriate referrals as needed.

Engages in needs assessment, goals setting, and implementation of planning for mentally retarded clients.

Provides advanced psychosocial case management to individuals, groups, and families when this intervention is determined to be the most appropriate.

Prepares psychosocial assessments, social service summaries, and notations in the client's chart. Provides correspondence to appropriate agencies.

Provides the social work component on a multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary treatment team.

Serves as client advocate to assure that his interests are protected.

Serves as liaison with parent's organizations, civic groups, community agencies, etc.

Develops a working knowledge of correctional or community resources in order to recommend referrals or patients for special services.

Serves as an intervention worker when security, medical personnel, and others encounter difficulties with inmates.
