THIS IS A PART TIME POSITION

Summary Objective

The purpose of this position is to teach and instruct students in various subjects and educational programs.

This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

  • Develops and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials that meet the needs of the students and the goals of the educational program.

  • Assesses student learning and provides feedback on student progress, including through tests, quizzes, and other assessments.

  • Plans and delivers engaging and interactive lessons that incorporate a variety of teaching methods and strategies, such as lectures, discussions, and hands-on activities.

  • Collaborates with other instructors and staff to ensure that the educational program meets the needs of the students and the goals of the institution.

  • Provides academic and personal support to students, including mentoring, counseling, and advising.

  • Stays up-to-date on trends and best practices in education and use that knowledge to inform and improve instructional practices.

  • Maintains accurate records of student progress, attendance, and other relevant data.

  • Participates in professional development activities to improve instructional skills and knowledge.

  • Performs related work as assigned.

PH&W HEALTHY START FATHERHOOD PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR

  • Creates and updates curriculum for new classes for all Healthy Start Fatherhood participants.

  • Represents the department to community groups and other governmental agencies to provide information sharing and awareness as well as advancement of Healthy Start Fatherhood Program projects.

  • Creates opportunities and a safe environment for Fatherhood participants to engage in their own health, as well as the health of their children before, during, and beyond pregnancy.

  • Assesses the impact of father involvement on maternal health and birth outcomes to identify opportunities to enhance and strengthen projects and strengthen family resilience.

Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related discipline.

  • One (1) year of teaching experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

  • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

PH&W is seeking out a Healthy Start Fatherhood Program Instructor to play a pivotal role in fostering the health and well-being of families by engaging fathers in meaningful ways.

Skills for success:  

  • Ability to effectively communicate and engage with diverse groups, including community members, governmental agencies, and program participants. 
  • Experience in creating and updating educational materials and programs. 
  • Ability to create a supportive and safe environment for participants. 
  • Capability to assess program impact and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Being bilingual in Spanish can be beneficial to this role.
