About the Position

The Mississippi Department of Mental Health (DMH) is currently seeking motivated and qualified licensed psychologists at Mississippi State Hospital (MSH). This is a full-time position located on the MSH campus in Whitfield, MS, which is in the Jackson, MS, metro area. The psychologist would be responsible for leading a team of therapists who provide services to males who are committed to our hospital for extended treatment for Serious and Persistent Mental Illness (and often including comorbid medical, IDD, and/or personality issues). The psychologist hired into this position would act as a member of the leadership team on the service. Primary Job Responsibilities: · Act as the supervising psychologist for a team of master’s level clinicians who provide services to individuals receiving services in our Male Receiving. · Provide advanced clinical services to individuals who are experiencing more challenging symptoms. · Intakes, suicide risk assessments, psychological assessments, as needed. · Program oversight and ongoing development to promote an evolving service. Minimum Qualifications: · Doctorate in Psychology from an APA accredited program. · Completion of an APA accredited predoctoral internship. · Licensure or licensure eligibility in Mississippi (if not licensed in MS at the time of the hire, then the individual must attain MS licensure within 12 months). · Exceptional written and verbal communication skills · Leadership, management, and supervisory experience preferred. · Considerable knowledge and/or background in the treatment of serious mental illnesses, trauma, and related conditions. Examples of Work

Seventh-level Behavioral Health professional who functions primarily in an advanced clinical and/or supervisory role. Professionals at this level guide program development, the selection and implementation of Evidence Based Practices, and provide supervision and oversight of less advanced behavioral health employees (hiring, training, assignments). Administers, scores, and interprets advanced psychological assessments (personality, intellectual, neuropsychological, etc.) for clinical diagnostics and treatment plan formulation. Individuals in this classification also provide direct services including individual therapy, group therapy, and provision of behavior support services. Individuals in this classification may also serve on hospital/facility committees.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires licensure as a psychologist in Mississippi and a minimum of 3 years of experience as a licensed psychologist.
