About the Position

*This is a time limited NS-14 position* This position serves as the Director of Health Surveillance and Research within the Office of Preventive Health. The Director is responsible for research and data supervision with oversight administration of research projects, including accountability for the work of all epidemiology, statistics and evaluation professional levels of work in the office. The Director is accountable for ensuring projects meet programs' data and research needs, and the presentation of entire research project to state and local officials, other state agencies, and outside professionals. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Specialist supervision requiring to possess the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen. Provides technical leadership to the agency and other organizations (e.g., collaborative partners) in specialized areas of expertise and advanced statistical methodology. Disseminates program data, information, and finding. Conducts and oversees literature reviews for design of programs, preparation of publications, and planning and evaluation.

What you'll need to be Successful

The successful applicant must have at least 5 to 7 years of experience in supervision, epidemiology, surveillance, public health research, data analysis, data compilation, translating data, and report writing.

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave

In accordance with federal law, all employees serving in the armed forces or the military reserves are entitled to 15 days per year for military training.
