Position Overview:
Under general supervision, the Community Engagement Coordinator will focus on developing and maintaining partnerships within diverse communities, planning and executing engagement strategies. Individuals in this role will be responsible for evaluating program effectiveness and ensuring the successful implementation of community health and violence prevention initiatives.

The Community Engagement Coordinator is expected to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Program Coordination: Facilitates, coordinates, and promotes community center services and programs, ensuring the smooth operation of activities. Establish and implement program schedules while enforcing relevant policies and procedures.
  • Program Design: Develops and designs programs and activities that meet the needs and interests of participants, incorporating a variety of formats such as small group, one-on-one, and large group sessions, while considering the community's diverse population.
  • Planning & Communication: Collaborates with the RISE Program Manager to plan the monthly calendar, ensuring alignment with center objectives, and communicate with the Community Center Aide to initiate daily programs and activities.
  • Team Collaboration: Fosters a positive, collaborative work environment, ensuring effective communication and teamwork across staff, volunteers, and external partners.
  • Community Engagement: Develops and maintains productive relationships with vendors, local schools, community organizations, and faith-based groups to support program goals.
  • Resource Management: Assesses, plans, and coordinates the acquisition of necessary equipment, supplies, and materials for programs and events as well as oversees inventory management and distribution of resources.
  • Tracking & Reporting: Tracks community requests for programs, events, and activities, maintains participant reports, and produces weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports, collaborating with others to ensure accurate and timely documentation.
  • Administrative Support: Performs administrative tasks related to data collection, documentation, and other required duties, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the community center’s operations.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Associate degree in any field or 60 hours of secondary education credits from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years of program experience (e.g., activities for youth and adults).
  • One (1) year of customer service experience.
OR
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of program experience (e.g., activities for adults).
  • One (1) year of customer service experience.
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Valid Texas Drivers License (upon Hire).
  • Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90-days of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with staff, community members, and external partners.
  • Skill in utilizing MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for program documentation, communication, and reporting.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with diverse individuals and groups, fostering teamwork in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work well with both community members and staff, ensuring smooth coordination of programs and activities.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and act with discretion, handling situations independently while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

General Information

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time position.
  • Monday - Friday 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM (flexible); however, hours will vary and include nights and weekends, and holidays depending on the activities and events participation in department and division events.

Work Environment:
  • This position is primarily office-based, offering a professional and collaborative workspace utilizing technology to support daily tasks, including computers, phones, and software applications.
  • . This role involves significant interaction with community member and colleagues, and staff.
Physical Demands:
  • This role requires the ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to twenty (20) pounds.
