About the Position

The Mississippi State Department of Health is seeking to fill a Support Care Professional III (Medical Aide) vacancy at the Crossroads Clinic in Jackson, MS. The Support Care Professional III (Medical Aide) responsibilities include: servicing Crossroads Clinic by performing duties approved for CNA, including blood draws, stocking supplies, assisting with medical procedures, cleaning exam rooms and other duties as assigned. This position (Medical Aide) may also include taking vital signs, assisting with care plan activities, observing and reporting patient conditions and behaviors. May mentor or direct the work of lower-level employees. Communicates with doctors, patients, and families, and educates patients on care. This is a Non-State, TIME-LIMITED (14) position

What you'll need to be Successful

To be successful a candidate should have excellent multitasking, organizational, and communication skills. Employees must prioritize work to meet deadlines and be an effective team player. The candidate needs to have knowledge of MSDH programs and use that knowledge effectively to assist clients and/or patients as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires High School Diploma or high school equivalency, and 2-3 years of experience. May require a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) designation.

Examples of Work

Third-level Support Care position accountable for taking vital signs, assisting with care plan activities, observing and reporting patient conditions and behaviors, and participating in rehabilitation, ambulation, and transfers. May mentor or direct the work of lower-level employees. Communicates with doctors, patients, and families, and educates patients on care. May provide transport to offsite appointments and application of restraints when necessary.

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave
Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.
