About the Position

*This is a time limited NS-14 position* Candidates must have experience in procurement, contracts, and purchasing but also knowledge of the guidelines set forth in the Mississippi Code, the Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), and/or the Department of Information Technology Services (ITS). Additionally, procurement staff will support departments in obtaining necessary price quotes in accordance with relevant laws and regulations and will play a crucial role in coordinating the formal bid process by advertising proposals and soliciting bids on various agency projects. In addition to procurement responsibilities, the selected individual will be involved in property management tasks. This includes assisting in the acquisition, accountability, assignment, maintenance, and disposal of agency property. Duties/Responsibilities will include the following: Supervise the full procurement cycle, guaranteeing adherence to agency, state, and federal guidelines and procedures from the requisition stage to the receipt of goods or services, engage in contract negotiations with suppliers to obtain favorable conditions, including cost, delivery timelines, and the quality of goods or services, develop and implement procurement strategies aimed at cost reduction and efficiency improvement, including supplier consolidation and bulk purchasing, oversee the selection procedure, performing comprehensive evaluations to ensure dependability, quality, and financial solidity, collaborate with internal departments to anticipate the demand for goods and services, ensuring procurement is timely and meets operational requirements, establish and uphold a procurement management system or software to simplify procurement processes and improve data transparency and reporting, address disputes with suppliers and/or agency employees concerning contract delivery problems, product quality, or contract adherence, ensuring minimal disruption to the organization, carry out regular audits of procurement policies and procedures, proposing modifications or updates to align with industry-leading practices and regulatory mandates, and utilize MAGIC

Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of contract management Knowledge of procurement and purchasing laws Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, team-based environment Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software Ability to coordinate and maintain relationships with cross-functional departments to ensure efficient operations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to effectively interact with administration, faculty, staff, and other outside contacts.

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave

In accordance with federal law, all employees serving in the armed forces or the military reserves are entitled to 15 days per year for military training.
