Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the Board’s Executive Director, Board Chair, and Board members with carrying out its statutory mandates. This position will assist in the development, evaluation, and implementation of administrative procedures to ensure that the Board fulfills its mandates including: certification, disciplinary functions fiduciary, policy and regulation, standards of practice, and public information functions. This position functions as the Board’s coordinator for certification and the Board's primary contact to the public for all Board business. In addition, this position incorporates duties and responsibilities of the Executive Director, during her absence, and other specific duties as delegated by the Executive Director. The position manages and coordinates the office, telephone, and all inquiries for certification/renewals of residential child care program administrators and residential child and youth care practitioners. This position is eligible for hybrid telework (20% = 1 day weekly) which is subject to approval from the supervisor. The percentage may increase as learning and knowledge strengthens.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work. Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience. 2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience. 3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience. 4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess: Experience with basic budgeting and fiscal controls Experience with preparing board meetings and minutes Experience in Microsoft word, excel, and managing databases Experience interpreting and applying a variety of laws, rules, regulations, standards and procedures Experience with the processes of planning, organizing, staffing and directing Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with co-workers and the general public Excellent communications skills to facilitate interactions with organizations, applicants, and staff from other organizations
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
