This position has a Special Entrance Rate (SER) starting salary of:
Attorney-Regional - $36.66 hourly / $2,932.80 bi-weekly
This position comes with a Premium Pay Rate of up to $2.00 per hour as follows for hours worked only and based on years of service at the Louisiana Department of Health within specified job titles:
0 months to less than 2 years - $1.00/hour
2 years to less than 4 years - $1.50/hour
4 years or greater - $2.00/hour

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice law plus four years of experience as a practicing attorney.

Function of Work:
To independently serve as the legal counsel for a major department with multiple complex programs over a geographic area of an agency (generally 3 to 10 regions) when positions are geographically removed from their boss in accordance with Civil Service Allocation Criteria Memo.
Level of Work:
Program Manager.
Supervision Received:
Broad direction from an Attorney--General Counsel 3 or Attorney--Deputy Counsel 2 or equivalent level unclassified position.
Supervision Exercised:
May exercise direct supervision over one subordinate attorney or other support staff.
Location of Work:
May be used by major state agencies in a regional setting (Geographically removed from Headquarters.)
Job Distinctions:
Differs from lower level Attorney jobs by the presence of independent responsibility for legal activities of a region for a major state agency with multiple complex legal programs as well as the nature of the reporting relationship. Positions allocated to this title are physically remote from their immediate supervisor (e.g. Reporting to an Attorney--General Counsel 3 or Attorney--Deputy General Counsel 2.)
Differs from Attorney Supervisor by the absence of direct supervisory responsibility over a minimum of two Attorney positions.
Serves as senior legal counsel for one of the nine LDH regions throughout the state of Louisiana. Performs highly professional and administrative duties and is responsible for providing highly technical legal direction, advice, assistance, consultation, representation. Has a direct influence on the operation of LDH regional activities involving several major programs under LDH, including Office of Public Health (OPH), Office of Behavioral Health (OBH), Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities (OCDD), Adult Protective Services (APS), and Medicaid Program, as well as for the LDH facilities (including contracted facilities) located in the REGION 8, as well as assisting with these duties for REGION 2 and REGION 6. This position provides highly technical legal advice, assistance, and consultation to the Executive Counsel, General Counsel, and Deputy General Counsels, on high profile and complex legal matters. Incumbent must possess broad and intensive legal experience in all phases of the legal process regarding health law. Required to be admitted to all state courts in Louisiana and be eligible to be admitted or admitted to practice in all federal courts within Louisiana. Shall also have a notarial commission to provide notary services to the department.
