As an PH Babies Can't Wait Early Intervention Specialist within the Children's with Special Needs. At District Two, Georgia Department of Public Healthyou will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways. District 2 Public Health serves 13 counties in northeast Georgia, including Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White counties. One of the fastest growing regions in the state, District 2 includes rural and urban communities with diverse public health challenges.

Requirements

Under general supervision, provides technical assistance and training within a health care specialty. Plans, directs, and implements a specialty program. Evaluates programs for compliance with state and/or federal guidelines.

Some but not all duties listed below:

  1. Reviews and follows-up with Coordinators regarding APR reports bi-weekly to ensure APR timelines are met and reports status updates and progress to EIC bi-weekly.
  2. Trains and monitors the quality of service provision for all BCW Special Instructors and Coordinators.  
  3. Assists in co-facilitating the Primary Service Provider meetings for all PSP Teams in the district and assists in entering payment for all PSP team meetings into BIBS database.  
  4. Assists with monitoring, assessing, auditing, and evaluating all BCW Special Instructors and Coordinators to determine compliance with state/federal guidelines and timeframes. Includes random quarterly review of notes for quality documentation.
  5. Assists with fiscal audits for Coordinators and Special Instructors twice a year.
  6. Assists with providing technical assistance, policy support and advice to develop, implement and improve DPH and/or the BCW program.
  7. Timely and accurate data management, IFSP reviews/finalizations, and closures
  8. Attends Health Fairs and Public Awareness Fairs.
  9. Complete chart reviews, both in paper and electronically as needed, especially before file is transferred or closed.
  10. Assists in leading LICC meetings and planning events.
  11. Participates in Child Find 
  12. Complete Developmental evaluations as needed.
  13. Take new referrals and assign new referrals as needed
  14. Processes BCW reports and assists with contracts as well as assist the EIC with day-to-day operations.
  15. Attends required BCW trainings as needed.
  16. Completes travel requests and expense forms timely and accurately.
  17. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals and other literature and attending related seminars, conferences, and the like.
  18. Creates and maintains a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and a strong team orientation.
  19. Carries a service coordination and/or special instruction case load as needed. 
  20. Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Minimum Experience & Qualifications:
Master's degree in a related field (Early Childhood education, Child Development, Special Education) from an accredited college or university AND One year of experience performing work related to area of assignment OR Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Three years of experience performing work related to area of assignment OR Seven years of experience performing work related to area of assignment. Note: Some positions may require licensure.
Specifics:
-In Child development, early childhood education, early childhood special education, special education or other closely related field. The potential candidate may have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field.
OR
-The potential candidate may have a related bachelor’s or master’s degree (Resume must include date degree was awarded). Related is defined as “at least 20 percent of the credit hours of the transcript must address child development, disabilities, or family systems. A copy of the candidate’s full transcript(s) must be submitted with the resume.
OR
-The potential candidate may be a licensed Registered Nurse. A copy of the candidate’s Georgia nursing license must be forwarded with the resume.
-A minimum of two years of professional experience providing service to children and families or in the administration of a service delivery program for children and families or children’s health.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred candidate to have Master Degree or higher to meet Babies Can't Wait requirements. Degree must be in following areas:
Audiology Education Physical Therapy
Child Development Elementary Education Psychology
Child Psychology Family/Community Counseling School Psychology
Clinical Psychology Human Services Social Work
Nutrition Sociology Developmental Psychology
