Position Overview:
The Client Services Specialist performs programmatic, administrative and logistical duties of a difficult nature involving considerable variety and complexity of assignments and requiring independent judgment in applying guidelines to assigned work tasks. This role is key to implementation of the day-to-day program activities and/or services for the dental programs of Harris County Public Health (HCPH). The Client Services Specialist is responsible for facilitating all tasks in accordance with all HCPH and Dental Program protocols. This role requires the adaptability to work in multiple capacities to ensure efficient operations for the clinics, mobile unit, community programs and school-based programs.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Performs all duties required as a part of four-handed chairside dental assisting
  • Takes prescribed dental radiographs and/or intraoral photographs
  • Provides instructions to patients under the guidance of the dentist
  • Performs infection control and instrument sterilization according to dental policies and procedures; performs weekly biologic monitoring
  • Schedules appointments using the dental appointment software (Dentrix)
  • Performs patient eligibility screening; verifies insurance eligibility
  • Performs clinical financial tasks including co-pay collection and weekly financial report to submit to finance
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly dental preventive maintenance
  • Participate in school-based and community events to promote oral health

Requirements


Education:
  • High School diploma or GED equivalency
Experience:
  • Six months experience in a dental clinical setting as a dental assistant
Licensure:
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers 
  • Texas Registered Dental Assistant
Language:
  • Must be bilingual (English/Spanish)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 
  • Basic in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work well with public and staff members
  • Must use your personal mobile device for our Multifactor Authentication process.

Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work:
  • Full Time | Regular
  • Monday through Friday from 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m.; However, times may vary due to the variability of an event-based schedule
  • Other days and hours as necessary
Work Environment:
  • This job operates in both a clinical environment as well as in alternative community-based settings including mobile dental events in different locations throughout Harris County. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and scanners.
Physical Demands:
  • Must possess the physical ability and manual dexterity to assist the dentist and dental hygienist with direct patient care in a dental clinical setting.
Work Location:
  • 1730 Humble Place Drive, Humble, TX 77338
  • Must be willing to travel to work at multiple clinic locations within Harris County, as directed
