Position Overview:
The Client Service Specialist (CSS) supports both clinical and non-clinical services by coordinating all aspects of the medical clinic through front desk operations. This position supports the Clinical Health Services (CHS) Program locations by answering phones, scheduling appointments, supporting clinic flow, and providing day-to-day service to the public seeking services. The CSS ensures compliance with all Harris County Public Health (HCPH) policies and procedures, supporting clinic operations. The CSS reports to the Clinical Health Services (CHS) Program Manager and serves Harris County communities by supporting the medical team in providing comprehensive care to patients in a clinic setting.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Interview clients to collect required information for eligibility determination, using grant and payor guidelines.
- Manage administrative duties such as reception, appointments, and telephone calls.
- Support the coordination of scheduling patients to receive services from multidisciplinary team members, ensuring optimal time management for clinic operations. -Handle minor cash responsibilities, including collecting co-pays.
- Ensure compliance with medical record policies and procedures, including patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).
- Complete service activity reports, client revenue reports, client satisfaction surveys, and other periodic reports as required.
- Participate in the transportation of program supplies to and from event locations, adhering to county vehicle operation policies.
- Maintain inventory by ensuring office supplies are always in stock and ordering as needed.

Requirements
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Language:
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Experience:
- One (1) year of experience performing clerical office duties in a health care setting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
- Ability to engage and explain services to potential clients.

Qualifications
- One (1) year of using an Electronic Health Record (Epic preferred).
Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work:
- Full Time | Regular | Grant funded
- Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Other days and hours as necessary.
Work Environment:
- This job operates in a medical mobile unit clinic environment, community setting, and occasionally in a medical clinic. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
- This role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to twenty (20) pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.
