Food Service Worker

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Food Service Worker to join the team at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute (CMHI). This is a full-time position with an 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Sunday through Saturday, alternating every other weekend and alternating holidays schedule and opportunity for advancement, growth, and development.

The Food Service Worker will assist in the diet line area, check in food deliveries to ensure product quality, follow recipes, and work on pre-prep. Additional duties include assisting in cafeteria set up, washing and storing dishes, and cleaning all equipment, appliances, sinks, cabinets, tables, and carts. The ideal candidate will work to ensure maximum production and quality standards are met, provide excellent service to all customers, and follow all general sanitation standards. 

Applicants will be required to complete a background check to be considered for this position.

CMHI provides active inpatient treatment to adults in need of acute psychiatric care. The facility offers several services includingindividualized treatment plans. Support for patients with special education needs to continue their education is provided, and individuals are encouraged to collaborate with staff members in formulating their own plan. Medication, group counseling, and activities therapies might be included as well.
