Main Purpose of Job
This position provides intermediate-level support for the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of projects within the Pharmacists Professional Services Unit (PPS). This position is responsible for evaluating, analyzing, researching, developing, and updating the pharmacy professional services utilization trends; cost containment measures; budget forecasting; national and regional policies; website management; billing instructions/manual; inquiries from/and assistance to providers (calls/emails, etc.); State and Federal regulations and State Plan Amendment updates; and provider payment issues. This position has an external component as well, as it requires attendance, and at times support and/or facilitation of stakeholder meetings, internal program and staff meetings, conference calls, and committee meetings on various topics on behalf of the OPS. This position is also responsible for supporting responses to information requests from legislative offices, the Governor, the press, and other external groups.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: One year of experience evaluating, analyzing, researching and developing health care services, policies and programs. Note: Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public Policy or closely related field from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The desired candidate should possess the following: Experience developing standard operating procedures. Experience evaluating, analyzing and developing utilization trends and presenting recommendations. Experience interpreting and developing regulations. Experience with medical/CMS 1500 billing.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
