As the Medical Logistics Lead, you will help to oversee the daily operations of a high-capacity warehouse facility, ensuring readiness for emergency response activations. Your leadership will shape the future of public health preparedness by managing warehouse operations, improving logistical strategies, and providing operational guidance to teams and partners statewide.
The Executive Office of Resiliency and Health Security (ORHS) plays a vital role in strengthening Washington State’s ability to respond to public health emergencies. The Office of Medical Logistics (OML) ensures the availability of essential medical supplies, coordinating logistics for disaster response and preparedness initiatives. As part of our team, you will contribute to the state’s ability to protect lives, reduce health risks, and provide essential resources when they are needed most.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Leading a team of emergency management specialists and logistics personnel to ensure seamless warehouse operations, including inventory management and safety compliance. Assign tasks to team members, provide guidance and ensure all tasks are completed. Operate forklifts and powerlifts safely to organize products and materials within the warehouse.
- Developing and implementing process improvement strategies to optimize warehouse performance and ensure the efficient distribution of medical supplies and protective equipment. Work with leadership to design long-term logistics strategies that align with the agency's goals, including cost reduction, scalability, and sustainability
- Managing the collection, analysis, and dissemination of logistics data to support decision-making at the state level, ensuring supply chain visibility and readiness.
- Coordinating operational support with agencies, healthcare organizations, Tribal partners, and emergency response teams to maintain a seamless medical logistics network.
- Overseeing safety protocols, facility maintenance, and vendor coordination to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with safety standards. Serve as the primary point of contact for partners, addressing concerns, inquiries, and providing solutions to operational challenges as they arise.
- Serving as an on-call Duty Officer on a rotational basis, and other critical positions during public health emergencies, participating in exercises, and contributing to preparedness initiatives.
Option 1: Four (4) years of experience in one or more of the following (or closely allied field):
- Resource Management
- Warehousing/Logistics
- Emergency response or emergency management
- Facilities Management
Option 2: Two (2) years of experience as an Emergency Management Program Specialist 2 (or equivalent).
Option 3: A bachelor’s degree or higher in emergency management, project management, public or business administration, program management or a related field; AND two (2) years of experience in one or more of the following:
- Resource Management
- Warehousing/Logistics
- Emergency response or emergency management
- Facilities Management
AND
- Experience using FileMaker, ReUse, or a similar inventory management database.
- Experience using powered lift equipment.
- Current Forklift/PLE certification; OR obtain a forklift and powerlift certification within the first month of employment.
- Using MS products to create reports, spreadsheets, use formulas to calculate data, and import data from other sources.
- Clearly communicating verbally, electronically, and in writing.
- Having a safety focus/mindset and help facilitate that in others.
