As a Opioid Substance Misuse and Response Project Coordinator within the Division of Health Protection at the Georgia Department of Public Healthyou will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Requirements

  • Assists the Opioid Deputy Director, and Opioid Prevention & Response Coordinator with program and statewide strategic planning and implementation.
  • Responsible for the implementation and coordination of select projects and strategies within the Opioid & Substance Misuse Response Program.
  • Serves as the primary contact for direction and management of assigned projects.
  • Collaborates with both internal (program staff, other DPH staff, evaluator) and external partners (providers, partners, vendors, etc.) to ensure grant deliverables are accomplished and projects completed.
  • Works with the Drug Surveillance Unit to review and interpret data to inform prevention planning.
  • Coordinates and assists with development, management, and evaluation of contracts.
  • Prepares, analyzes and distributes program reports, graphs, charts, and other program data.
  • Assists with preparation of grant related reports and applications.
  • Attends various meetings and assists with administrative and/or programmatic guidance.
  • Develops and/or administers presentations to various workgroups/committees/coalitions.
  • Contributes to the overall vision and direction of the Opioid & Substance Misuse Response Program and represents the program as a subject matter expert on substance use prevention – specifically opioid overdose prevention.

Qualifications

High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of professional level experience related to the area of assignment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THE POSITION):

  • Bachelors of Public Health degree or other applicable field of study.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based strategies in the area of substance misuse prevention, overdose prevention, treatment, and/or recovery.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage related contracts.
  • A strong orientation toward team work and collaboration.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills with a wide range of audiences.

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
