The agency is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of PH Environmental Compliance Specialist 2 within the Fulton County Board of Health.

Requirements

Under general supervision, performs inspections, interviews, and technical reviews for an environmental health program in a public health department. Investigates complaints and recommends enforcement action as necessary.

  • Ensures compliance with state and federal rules and regulations
  • Inspects and investigates for compliance with applicable health and sanitation laws and regulations
  • Monitors, tracks, and maintain records on compliance
  • Performs site inspections of properties to identify compliance/non-compliance with regulations and requirements
  • Reports compliance findings to FDA, USDA, and others; results determine the ability to move products
  • Assists with response to environmental health emergencies and episodes and/or conducts health and safety evaluations
  • Initiates, negotiates and implements enforcement and other actions as appropriate
  • Investigates and responds to complaints of potential health hazards and requests for service
  • Performs administrative duties to include data management, general correspondence, and equipment maintenance
  • Provides Public Health technical assistance and regulatory interpretation of environmental health codes

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, which includes the completion of 27 semester or 40 quarter hours in laboratory sciences (e.g., chemistry, biology, geology, physics, etc.) and one (1) year of experience at the lower level PH Envir Compl Specialist 1 (RCP120)  or equivalent position.
Note: Any agency-specified certification/training that may be experience.Employment Information

Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or synthesis functions; deal with concrete and abstract variables; and analyze major problems that require complex planning for interrelated activities that can span one or several work units.
Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity in critical and/or unexpected situations involving moderate risk to the organization.
