Why does the job exist?
How does it get done?
Turn or reposition bedridden patients.
Provide physical support to assist patients to perform daily living activities, such as getting out of bed, bathing, dressing, using the toilet, standing, walking, or exercising.
Review patients' dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences to ensure patient receives appropriate diet.
Measure and record food and liquid intake or urinary and fecal output, reporting changes to medical or nursing staff.

The ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
The ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
The willingness to handle difficult residents with patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
The ability to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel and support agencies.
Minimum Qualification
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a current Certified Nursing Assistant Certification from the State of New Mexico or must receive Certified Nursing Assistant Certification within four (4) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. This position is designated safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment is conditional pending results of criminal background check. Shift work and overtime are required. Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training is required.
Working Conditions
Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, and visitors. Communicates with nursing personnel and other department personnel. Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays.
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet. May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
