Professional Counselor 4
NEDHSA is a designated approved National Health Service Corps (NHSC) site. Clinicians who work at NHSC-approved sites are eligible to apply to the NHSC Loan Repayment Program to pay off student loans.
- 2-year Full-Time Clinical Practice: NHSC will pay up to $50,000* for an initial 2 years of full-time clinical practice to clinicians.

This position may be filled by Probation, Promotion, Demotion, Lateral Transfer or Detail to Special Duty. Preference may be given to permanent classified employees of Northeast Delta Human Services Authority.
Applicants will be required to serve a probationary period of not less than 12 months and not more than 24.
International degrees require submission of an equivalency evaluation with the application.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) plus two years of counseling experience.
Qualifications
FUNCTION OF WORK:
To provide intensive developmental and therapeutic assessment and treatment in serious or complicated cases that require a range of therapeutic and intervention skills.
LEVEL OF WORK:
Advanced.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Broad from a licensed behavioral health professional or higher-level manager or administrator.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May provide functional supervision to lower-level counselors and other direct care providers.
LOCATION OF WORK:
May be used by all state agencies.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from the Professional Counselor 3 and the Social Service Counselor job series by the presence of licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
Differs from the Professional Counselor 5 and other supervisory counselor jobs by the absence of supervisory responsibilities.

Conducts complex assessments and independent selection and use of varied in-depth therapies in the treatment of individuals with multi-problem dual diagnosis substance abuse problems (as defined by the Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners in Rule (LAC 46:LX.503.e)).
Develops and plans casework services and treatment for individuals with specialized problems in development, retardation, maladjustment, or dependency.
Develops and plans services that address and/or include family therapy, marital counseling, child abuse and sexual abuse therapy, major family disruption, developmental disabilities, death, and suicide.
May provide training in caseload principles and practices and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulation, and agency policy and procedures.
May serve as a lead-worker.
May provide expert testimony and recommendations on behalf of clients in court cases in response to judges and other officers of the court.
Serves as liaison and coordinator between individuals, their families, the community, and service providers. Evaluates and monitors services and redirects when indicated.
