Job Overview:

The Fiscal Director is responsible for the management of the accounting / budget functions for the Division of Health Licensure and Regulation. The Fiscal Director is responsible for supervising the cash office staff and supporting the fiscal information for program staff of Health-Related Boards and the Office of Emergency Medical Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise, train, and provide strong leadership to a four person cash office team.
  2. Serve as a subject matter expert on accounting policies, procedures, and systems for internal and external business partners.
  3. Present financial updates to health-related boards and as needed and attend government operations committee meetings as needed.
  4. Ensure the timely and accurate creation of ad hoc financial documents.
  5. Review and maintain the monthly checklist and reconciliations to ensure all transactions are recorded and reviewed timely.
  6. Run queries in Edison (PeopleSoft), LARS (Licensure Database), Inovah (payment processing system) and utilize excel skills to ensure transactions are timely and accurately processed.
  7. Participate in quarterly reviews of financial results with program staff.
  8. Assist in completing year-end closing tasks by the established deadlines.
  9. Create and maintain documented accounting standard business practices and procedures as needed.
  10. Assist in the completion of the annual risk assessment/board audits.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Intermediate excel skills with the ability to analyze and summarize data using formulas and pivot tables.
  2. Experience with PeopleSoft and Oracle systems is preferred but not required.
  3. Strong communication skills with the ability to provide solutions through critical thinking.
  4. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial internal control systems is preferred but not required.
