All Coastal Health District, County Health Department employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Requirements

Under general supervision, prepares and operates radiographic equipment utilized to take general radiographic images.
- Ensures orders, consents, and disclosures are provided and signed prior to taking any images
- Develops images and checks for clarity prior to transmitting or copying
- Determines and selects proper instrument control setting for all procedures
- Explains procedures and observes clients to ensure safety and comfort during scan
- Keys commands and data into computer to document and specify scan sequences, adjust transmitters and receivers, or photograph certain images
- Monitors client's condition and reaction, reporting abnormal signs to the TB nurse and/or physician
- Monitors equipment for proper functioning; repairs or arranges for repairs as needed
- Monitors video display of area being scanned and adjusts density or contrast to improve picture quality
- Operates and/or oversees the operation of radiological imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes
- Positions client on examining tables and/or x-ray board while maintaining their safety
- Positions imaging equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance, according to specification of examination
- Reviews and evaluates developed x-rays, videotape, or computer-generated information to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes
- Sets up examination rooms, ensuring that all necessary equipment is ready
- Uses radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of clients and staff
- Notify the nurses and physician once imaging reports are ready for review
- Perform clerical duties to include but not limited to registering patients, answering phones, responding to messages, scheduling appointments, obtaining copies of medical information, entering data into the electronic medical record, accepting payments, providing receipts, etcetera
- Provide Directly Observed Therapy in-clinic or in a community based setting
- Obtain certification to administer and read the Tuberculin Skin Test
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Supervisor

Qualifications

Associate degree or diploma in radiologic technology from an accredited college or university and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and two (2) years of job-related experience; or one (1) year experience at the lower level Radiologist 1 (HCT070) or position equivalent.
