The Wyoming Department of Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate leader to oversee the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) in Afton, Alpine, and Jackson, Wyoming. This part-time (29 hours per week, alternating 24-32 hours per week) position plays a vital role in supporting the health of women, infants, and children through nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and access to essential food resources.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.


  • Lead & Supervise – Direct the work of contractors and employees, ensuring smooth clinic operations.
  • Assess & Educate – Conduct health screenings, nutrition assessments, and breastfeeding education to determine WIC eligibility.

  • Provide Critical Resources – Offer health referrals, nutrition counseling, and supplemental food packages to WIC participants.

  • Ensure Compliance – Communicate changes in federal and state regulations and ensure program adherence.

  • Community Engagement – Assess local needs, conduct outreach efforts, and promote breastfeeding education.

  • Improve Services – Identify and implement best practices to enhance program effectiveness.

  • Bridge the Gap – Serve as a liaison between local WIC clinics, the Regional Nutrition Supervisor, and the State WIC Agency.


Requirements


PREFERENCES: 


Our ideal candidate will have a degree in Nutrition, Nursing, Public Health, or a related health field.



KNOWLEDGE: 


  • Strong understanding of maternal and child health, nutrition, and breastfeeding support.

  • Experience in grant writing, administration, and program evaluation.

  • Ability to supervise and motivate employees in a dynamic work environment.

  • Knowledge of Wyoming state statutes, program administration, and public health outreach.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 

Education:
Bachelor's Degree (typically in Healthcare)
 
Experience:
0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Health Programs)
 
OR
 
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Health Programs)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
None

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Travel is required between Afton, Alpine, and Jackson, Wyoming offices.

  • FLSA:  Non-Exempt
  • The Wyoming Department of Health is an E-Verify employer.  
  • Part-time, benefited position working 29 hours per week (alternating 24-32 hours per week). 
  • A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, for every successful applicant.
