The Women’s Health Epidemiologist II will be responsible for management and analysis of data to support data-driven quality improvement initiatives that focus on reducing maternal morbidity and mortality and decreasing disparities in maternal outcomes. Under the supervision of the senior Women’s Health Epidemiologist, the Women’s Health Epidemiologist II will manage data for the Georgia Perinatal Quality Collaborative (GaPQC) and other programs and initiatives under the umbrella of the Office of Women’s Health, including the Family Planning Program and the Maternal Mortality Review Committee. The individual will manage a data entry platform; compile data from secondary data sources; assist with grant management, reporting, and quality improvement; and perform statistical analyses on maternal outcomes, program metrics, data quality, data completeness, and timeliness of surveillance.
The Women’s Health Epidemiologist II is expected to be experienced in managing and analyzing data; creating data visualizations; and interpreting and communicating data findings to a variety of audiences and stakeholders. This position will be responsible for guiding and supporting epidemiology positions in the same office and performing and/or delegating ongoing data reviews to inform continuous quality improvement with GaPQC for hospitals participating in the Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) patient safety bundles. In collaboration with the Women’s Health team and key partners, the position will present data trends within the context of the program and actively share data and analyses with internal and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities

Duties will include:
- Managing a data entry platform to support hospitals participating in AIM patient safety bundles with GaPQC.
- Identifying program and hospitals' technical assistance needs to improve data quality, completeness, and timeliness of quality improvement reporting from hospitals.
- Serving as a point of contact to provide data support to hospitals engaged with GaPQC.
- Compiling data from various secondary data sources.
- Performing data analyses to support evaluation and quality improvement efforts and assess maternal outcomes.
- Developing factsheets, reports, and presentations.
- Presenting data findings to various audiences (e.g., lay audience, program staff, leadership staff, Epidemiology staff) during meetings and conferences.
- Serving as a point of contact for federal and state data reporting for grant deliverables.
- Responding to data requests.
- Assisting with special projects and working with large data sets, as needed.
- Designing epidemiological studies.
- Analyzing data using Excel and/or a statistical software (SAS).
- Utilizing geographical information system software (ArcGIS).
- Assisting with other Women’s Health Epidemiology deliverables as needed.
- Participating in DPH Epidemiology emergency response activities and On Call rotation as needed.
- Master's degree in public health or a closely related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of experience performing epidemiologic work or work in a closely related fieldOR
Bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited college or university AND Three years of experience performing epidemiologic work or work in a closely related field
OR
Two years of experience at the lower level Epidemiologist 1 (HCP180) or position equivalent.Additional Information

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in public health and at least two years of experience performing epidemiologic work.
- Recent experience with data management and analysis using software such as Excel and SAS.
- Experience communicating with public health stakeholders.
- Experience creating data visualizations, including charts and maps.
